Developing resources and building relationships among farmers in North Carolina who acknowledge the value of soil health.

OUR MISSION

To regenerate healthy soils in North Carolina through farmer-driven education and networking.

OUR HISTORY

The North Carolina Soil Health Coalition was established in 2022 by a group of farmers that sought to connect other farmers from across the state who acknowledge the value of soil health. We believe that learning to implement soil health practices is best accomplished by working with and learning from other farmers who have experienced similar challenges and successes.

The Soil Health Coalition is farmer-led, which means that it depends on the leadership and knowledge provided by each member to be successful. A wealth of first-hand knowledge exists among North Carolina’s farmers about how to practically implement soil health practices. We believe that the Coalition can bring together those farmers to make everyone more successful for the betterment of farms across the State.

OUR OBJECTIVES

The North Carolina Soil Health Coalition is a farmer-led, nonprofit organization that provides education, mentorship, and support among North Carolina’s farmers to foster the adoption of practices that build soil health. The Coalition accomplishes this purpose through the following objectives:

  • Promoting cooperation among farmers who seek to improve soil health and profitability for their operations.

  • Strengthening partnerships between farmers and other individuals and organizations who promote and support soil health in North Carolina.

  • Increasing the economic, social, and environmental stability of agricultural land resources in North Carolina.

  • Providing up-to-date information on soil health management and research across multiple modes of distribution to North Carolina’s farmers.

  • Enhancing the ability of North Carolina’s farmers to achieve greater profitability on an ecologically sound and sustainable basis.

  • Educating consumers through the dissemination of research and farmer testimonies on the regeneration and management of soils and natural resources in North Carolina.
